The institution grappled with managing massive amounts of data and encountered challenges and intricacies in operating its infrastructure. To overcome these issues, the company sought to improve its applications and databases by migrating to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud model. This strategic move aimed to minimize any disruptions to its business operations.

Institution with an inhouse IT Infra, with their infrastructure housed in an on-premises data centre, the organization faces the ongoing challenges of maintenance and manageability. Seeking reliable cloud services and enhanced resiliency. We provided guidance and assistance in determining the optimal platform tailored to their specific requirements, ensuring the achievement of optimal performance

The Challenge

The company was facing the following challenges in various below aspects:

  • Indian institute of Technology (IITK) is looking for a Cloud service provider for providing Cognitive Services and cloud-based services which would help us build cognitive intelligence into applications without having direct AI or data science skills or knowledge.
  • System should be able to provide metering and billing of services like VMs, storage, at hourly basis.
  • Support synchronous replication and automatic failover of a primary database to a standby database copy in a separate physical datacenter to improve data redundancy.
  • There was a requirement to oversee the data center footprint while cutting down on operational expenses, attaining the flexibility to provision SAP systems as needed, and diminishing capital investments.
  • They are inherently not optimized for optimal performance within a cloud setting. Shifting them to an AWS Cloud environment would necessitate substantial modifications.
  • Cloud Service Provider should offer Market Place solutions with first and 3rd party products and services to be used as services on their cloud platform


When the customer comes to us, we analyze the current situation and hurdles and decide to craft the solution on the AWS. As per the recommendation of the solution team we have decided to move the current infra to AWS. AWS offered the following benefits:

Provided benefits of the solution to client: –

  • Applications modules manage distinct functions simultaneously during events. The workloads are hosted in a private subnet, allowing access exclusively through the VPN. Traffic from the public internet is routed through the Web Application Firewall (WAF) before reaching the Load Balancers. This setup enhances security by ensuring controlled access and filtering incoming traffic through the specified channels.
  • The databases are implemented using MS SQL (Server) residing exclusively in the private subnet without any public access.
  • Scalable and reliable infrastructure: AWS provides a scalable and reliable infrastructure that can handle the company’s massive data volume.

After moving its Infra to AWS, the company has achieved the following results:

  • With the successful implementation of the solution, the Institution is now highly confident in the strategic decision it made. The transition to AWS has yielded maximum value, characterized by a shift from capital expenses to operating expenses.
  • This transition has also liberated resources that were previously tied up in routine tasks like traditional platform maintenance. These resources are now available for more strategic initiatives.


  • 1. AWS WAF is provided to protect apps and APIs against bots and exploits that consume resources, skew metrics, or cause downtime.
  • 2. AWS Guard Duty is deployed for threat detection, and it also continuously monitor the infra to detect any kind of malicious activity.
  • 3. Important instances are kept in the private subnet and user access can be provided by using VPN.
  • 4. Access Management and Security of Keys is achieved using the KMS (key Management Service).
  • 5. MFA is also implemented to provide an extra layer of authentication.
