Open Source Content Management System

A Content management System (CMS) is a web application or can say a website used for displaying images, articles documentation, press release, online shopping and much more. Today the market of open source CMS is rapidly increased. Some famous CMS are Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, Php Nuke. All these CMS are built in PHP. These CMS are very powerful and easy to understand. We will talk about every CMS in our coming articles. In this article we will introduce  the CMS mentioned above:

DRUPAL: It is the one of the most powerful and award winning CMS in 2008. Drupal has been downloaded almost 1.5 million times in the last 12 months. Some big companies like MTV UK, Warner Brothers Music use Drupal for their web applications.

JOOMLA: It is another powerful open source CMS. Joomla is the biggest competitors of Drupal. In 2006 Joomla had win the best open source CMS award and in 2008 it held second position after Drupal. Main advantage of Joomla over Drupal is Joomla’s ease of installation and ability to get a website up-and-running in a short space of time.

WORDPRESS: It is one of the best CMS for bloggers. WordPress is easy to install and can easily used by the user. WordPress is basically used for blog.

PHP NUKE: Php nuke is also the famous open source CMS. The main aim of PHP-Nuke is to allow a webmaster to create a community-based portal.
